See the Beauty of Vietnam and Southeast Asia through Hosteling
Thursday, February 9th at 7:00 PM

Photo slide presentation and reception in the hostel's grand common room

3 photos of Southeast AsiaCome and discover the beauty and mystery of Vietnam and its surroundings in Southeast Asia through the travels of a local mother and daughter. This visual presentation reveals the character and serenity of places just off the well-worn tourist track.

In Laos we'll visit the Mekong River Valley as it snakes through lush green villages where farmers in traditional conical hats cultivate their crops. The ancient capital of Laung Prabang invites you to explore the intricacies of golden roofed Buddhist temples.

In Cambodia, Siem Riep reveals its hidden temple site of Angkor Wat and shows why it is truly a wonder of our world.

In Vietnam, Hanoi reveals itself as a city that's almost as French as it is Vietnamese, through architecture, culture and cuisine. Run with the motorbikes that make crossing the street in old Saigon a challenge and an adventure. Experience the peace of Halong Bay with its thousands of tiny mountainous islands and overwhelming misty beauty.

Experience these inspiring places and more at the February 9th program presented by Friends of Baltimore Hostel and Potomac Area Council of HI-USA. Hostelling International-USA develops intercultural exchange and understanding through hostels and programs across America.

The program is free, but donations to the Baltimroe Hostel are always appreciated. The Hostel is located at 17 W. Mulberry Street between Charles and Cathedral streets, by the Basilica of the Assumption and the Central Pratt Library in Mount Vernon.
