Wednesday, September 13, 6:30 p.m. Presenter Sandy Meyers, veteran of 15 Earthwatch expeditions, prospected for dinosaur bones in a Triassic valley in Argentina's Talampaya National Park last year. In 2000 she helped process black bears for radio tracking in the hills surrounding the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina.
Wednesday, October 11, 6:30 p.m. Presenter Don Messersmith has been organizing and leading nature tours all over the world for more than 50 years. His travels have taken him to every continent and over 100 countries. On a recent trip to Brazil, he visited the vast Pantanal, the world's largest wetland, home to hundreds of species of birds and many mammals. His groups also visited the huge Iguasu Falls, Rio de Janeiro with an excursion to the forests of the rare Golden Lion Tamarin monkeys, and to cool, mountainous Itiatiai National Park. Dr. Messersmith is a retired University of Maryland Professor Emeritus of Entomology, Ornithology and Environmental Education.
Following each lecture, you're invited to a reception at the Baltimore Hostel, across from the Central Library. The Hostel is located at 17 W. Mulberry Street between Charles and Cathedral streets, by the Basilica of the Assumption and the Central Pratt Library in Mount Vernon. |
